Why it pays to be a woman when thinking of Auto Insurance

It has always been good to be part of the female species, and it pays so well, which is reflected when it comes to buying auto insurance. In most cases, women quality for reduced auto insurance rates than their male counterparts – yes, you heard it right. It might be surprising to many and counter-intuitive bearing in mind that there is a popular culture that women are bad drivers. However, according to auto insurance companies, women are actually the safest drivers we have around.

Auto insurance companies are programmed genetically to stick to numbers, regardless of the situation and so they don’t lie. Actually, when a woman is involved in an accident, she costs the insurance company less than her male counterpart, why? Very simple, the amount of damage a woman causes in the event of an accident is less than that caused by a man.

Your guess for the reasons behind this are as good as mine – they may be hormonal or perhaps women have different values than men but on average, women drive less irresponsibly and speed less compared to men. In other words, men make more stupid mistakes and take stupid risks that cost the insurance companies a lot!

There you have it! What is worse is that the insurance companies know this all too well. Therefore, just for being a woman, you should check the ‘save money’ box for yourself. But here are some more ways of saving money on your auto insurance.

First and foremost, you have to understand everything there is to about your discounts. This is the second most important thing you need to do besides being a woman. Basically, almost all insurance companies use a discounts system to fundamentally reduce the costs of auto insurance. The list of possible discount loopholes is different with all companies. Thus, when requesting for insurance quotes, ensure you ask the types of discounts extended to consumers. Speaking up could save you a lot in terms of discounts.

Secondly, you should check your most recent insurance provider and request for a quote and with that quote, request for at least 5 others from other service providers before contacting them. Contact your current provider last as they may believe they automatically have your business and offer you a higher rate.

Search online as most companies extend affordable insurance rates for deals purchased online. Ensure you search for at least 5 service providers, more is better as you will get to narrow down the list.

Apply with at least 5 service providers or more and ensure you follow through in applying to all of them that you have short listed. It is human to get tempted to stop applying after contact one or two service providers, but follow through as it could translate to a more affordable quote
