Google, IBM, Apple - most valuable brands worldwide
Google, the company which owns the most popular search engine in the
world, remains the most valuable brand worldwide, valued at 114 billion
dollars, according to a Millward Brown Optimor top, which quantify the
monetary value of consumer opinion on brands .
Moreover, the first four places are occupied by top IT industry giants.
Google is followed by the U.S. supplier of IT services - International
Business Machines (IBM), which is worth 86 billion dollars, up 30% from
2009, the Apple iPhone developer phones (83 billion U.S. dollars, up
32%) and Microsoft - largest software maker in the world (76 billion
dollars, which is in stagnation).
According to Millward Brown report, now in its fifth edition, the 100
most powerful brands in the world increased by 4% in the last 12
months, over 2,000 billion dollars.
Those who worked on the report say that strong brands this year have
shown resistance to the effects of recession and companies which cut
marketing budgets during the last year crisis have further realized the
importance of supporting its own brand and winning customer loyalty in
times of recession, increasing the amounts allocated for these purposes.
Top 10 brands is closed by
Coca-Cola (68 billion dollars, an increase of 1%),
McDonald's (66 billion dollars, a drop of 1%),
Marlboro (57 billion U.S. dollars, 15%)
China Mobile (52 billion U.S. dollars, -14%),
General Electric (45 billion dollars, 25%) and
Vodafone (44 billion U.S. dollars, -17%).
The strongest increase in brand value was obtained by South Korean group Samsung ranked 68, with 11 billion dollars, an additional 80% over last year. Most pronounced decline in the value of a brand that still remained in the top 100 coming from the mobile phone industry. Nokia has lost 58% of brand value at less than $15 billion, and dropped 30 places, up to 43.
Facebook, the largest social network in the world, with over 400 million users worldwide, is worth 5.5 billion dollars, which though not assured a place in the top.
Also, ICICI Bank became the first Indian brand in the top, entering at No. 45 with a brand value exceeding $14 billion.
The four largest emerging economies, India, China, Russia and Brazil, have, for the first time at least one representative in the top 100.
